05 Camry Mushy Soft Brakeswiseowl 12-30-2007, 06:38 PM I just bought a 05 Camry XLE V-6. Everything looks good except for the brakes. They are mushy soft and don't really grab until the pedal is down about 2 inches. The pads are pretty worn, only about 1/8 inch of friction material left. I think the rotors are good, no pulsing. Is this normal for Camry brakes? Any ideas? Thanks, Wiseowl xfeejayx 12-30-2007, 10:18 PM Congratulations on your purchase. yes, this is normal if the pads are worn out. You probably just need to bleed the brakes. Check your brake fluid level, and top it off for now if it's low. Once you replace the pads and bleed the system, your problem should be gone. somick 12-31-2007, 12:13 PM I drive 04 Camry LE. The brakes were soft from the day one. But they still hold well when you need to stop. I have seen a lot of threads of the same soft brakes topic. That must be Camry's SPECIAL feature. If your pads are worn, replace them for now. I do not think you need to be concerned with anything else. Considering your car is 3 years old you may replce your brake fluid. I doubt it will make your brake pedal harder, but if you intend to keep your car for a while it will make your car only better. Sam wiseowl 01-01-2008, 03:06 PM Thanks Eevryone! I'll start with replacing the pads and bleeding the lines Wiseowl vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
