I suscribe to Sports Compact Car and the latest issue had a big article on the Evolution and says that it is going to come to the U.S. soon. Either the real deal for about $35,000 or a tuned down one that would have about the same power as the WRX for about the same price tag. And I know eveyone out there can't wait to get an Evo. so I hope this is true!!! Has anyone else heard anything?

I couldn't wait. I went out to the book store and checked out the article. To me it seemed that they were saying that Mitsubishi should bring the Lancer Evo over here. If it's J-Spec (Japanese dress) and anything under $35K people will love it. But they need to stay close the the Scooby WRX to stay competitive. To me it didn't seem like they were announcing that it is coming. Just that they want Mitsu to bring it over. That's just what I think. :p

They should have a tuned down one (cheaper) to compete with the WRX, and a good one to compete with the WRX STi. That should be about 30 grand (the target for the WRX STi). That would be sooooo nice:)

An evo detuned to WRX levels?
That would be one pussy evo.

Yogi B, :flipa: (jk:) )
But that way, they should be able to sell them to a broader audience. A base model (WRX and detuned EVO), a hot mopel (WRX STi, EVO), and a bitching model (WRX 22B STi, EVO Tommy Mackinen edition)

They're going to make a fast one to keep with the WRX STi though

True, but whats the point in having a detuned evo when theres already Lancer GSR's that are around WRX power.

I was at the New England auto show in Boston, MA yesterday and spoke with one of the Mitsubishi reps there about the Evo (they didn't have one there unfortunetly). He said that from what he had heard the Evo would be here next fall and would be the 280/310HP one. Although I don't know how he can say that because we only have 93 octane gas. He also said that the price would be mid 30's :( He was not sure if it would be a GSR or RS model. I asked about putting down a deposit and he recommended calling Mitsubishi to find out when you can.

I'd love to get a Evo but if it is 35K or over for price that is getting too high. I would take a 240HP detuned one for 7 or 8K less.

We'll see.

Mid 30s isn't that bad... that's pretty much the price people have been expecting

Mid-30's aint bad for a mid-4 0-60 time, 4 wheels drive, 4 doors, etc, etc, etc. Its hella better than an Explorer:D
