those years 3 series are known as e30. Usually the ix refers to all wheel drive. The is is for sport package and im not sure what the es refers to

'es' stands for the "Eta" engine. Good low RPM torque, but low reving and not to powerful. You will also see just 'e' which is used on the sedan. 'es' is for the coupe.

The 318is and M3 are the best handling E30's. The 325i/325is is the best combination of ride, handling, power and refinement.

A good M3 will be somewhat hard to find, since most are modified (not always well), but they aren't too expensive and are really quick and fun.

Also, the 'is' moniker went from being the "sport version" to just being for a 2 door. So all coupes became 'is'

The 318is however was a true sport version. The 325is is just the coupe version of the 325i and 325es is the coupe version of the 325e sedan.

I think a 325 i E30 is better than a 318is. A Friedn have a 318is and his car is not more sporty than mine. I think mine 325i m Tec. is much more sporty than his car. And he needs more petrol.

Search for a 325i M Tec II from 89 or 90. That looks cool and has much Power and a super handling.
