Get your test-drive & deposit in before Thursday! They have a demo unit from Europe available for inspection... to allow you to decide if you want to put down a deposit (available next summer). The selling price will be $38,000 (if you get on the waiting list NOW). After that, the prices are "expected to be above $50,000".

I agree. Personally, I wouldn't pay 50 (or even the 38 they're asking). It has the Toyota Celica engine instead of the Honda, no roof, and looks to be too unsafe for L.A. driving. But I thought I'd relay what I was told... in case any AF members were interested.

i understand where your coming from. and your right the elise is probably not the best car to drive in heavy traffice. i think the celica engine will do well for a car its size though. and with a lil mods to it it will make a great weekend car for anyone willing. If i had the cash id buy one...
i havent heard any word on if they were upgrading or changing the "hood" or roof to make it easier or more accessible to put on. because that is about the only thing i have seen that is bad about the car is that the roof isnt one piece..you have to hook stuff and drape over stuff..it isnt easy...
we'll see how well it does..i predict it will do well..
edit..jay- i heard that they were gonna do that too..but that last word i heard on that they decided the best engine from the RSX would have been the Euro edition and with US emissions something didnt click..but maybe they will offer a bigger engine package...

a road version of the exige would be awesome!
would that not be the wierdest thing if you just bought a new lotus look under the hood and find a honda engine..the least they could do was change the face plates to lotus!
keep ur hopes up Jay they could still offer a bigger more horses engine...haha

i dunno...british technology has gotten alot better over the years..and i think it is @ its optimum right now...but to tell ya the truth i would rather have a toyota engine which is virtually bullet proof.

According to the rep, Honda would not cooperate with them, and they found Toyota to be quite willing. I, too, am disappointed. Toyota, especially the Celica, does nothing for me:o
He did say that you can purchase hardtops, but currently they'll be aftermarket. The roof that is included is more of a "rain condom" contraption...
However, I still feel that the "look" of the car is amazing:smoka: The angles and unique style really stood out amongst some of the best machines on tap (Bob's is known to have Lambos, Model Ts, Chargers, etc... show up & park next to each other). This is the same car I saw last Friday night:
