I don't believe you will hear any stories about blowing any (performance cars) doors off, may be a Honda or Escort, but these things are not big performers.
We talked to a guy with a track model and he said the brakes are grabby and he has been beaten by almost everyone he raced. He also said the ride on the track is very choppy other than interstate driving.
I would opt for the touring with leather, you can not get with a track, or wait a year and leather will probably be available on the track, too. Also performance will be improved next year. I think Nissan is hearing a lot from owners about being embarassed on the street. I bet you can't outdrive the brakes on a touring anyway, even if you slolom. Personally, I scrub off speed with the tires and gears, not the brakes.
If you remember when the last generation Z's came out, the twin turbos were about 6 months later, and well worth the wait. You have already waited this long just hold on for a while and really get VALUE.
I believe, in Texas, you could probably buy a new Z for $2000 under list if you did not have a trade-in. Used cars are dead and dealers don't want any more. Also qualified buyers are far and few (or is that few and far) between. Right now cash talks BIG!!! Try it.
