deeper is betterstrodda 01-24-2003, 05:57 PM for the past couple months, since i got my ticket, ive had my stock intake in(with the bottom cut out to allow more air). and yesterday i put a standard shortram in, and it doesnt produce the same loud & deep rumble at high rpm's. if the intake produces a deeper "meaner" sound, is that performance related, or is it just a sound? -=Evol90Accord=- 01-24-2003, 11:35 PM I think its some performance, but not much. I got the shortram intake on my car just so it sounded better and meaner. It makes people think you got a v6 in there for some reason. I've been told this many many times, and its still funny when I hear it. kicker1_solo 01-25-2003, 06:40 AM It's hard to say without actually seeing and hearing, but it can be all sound and no performance. It also can be performance. strodda 01-25-2003, 06:55 PM oh well, thanks anyways. im just gonna stick with the stock box until summer when i can put the cai back in. im just tired of switchin that thing back and forth. i was thinkin, that the stockbox might be better performancewise than a shortram. i cut out the bottom half, left side(away from the engine) and i have a K&n filter. plus the tube goes from a 3" opening and tapers down to the TB. KrNxRaCer00 01-28-2003, 02:49 PM nonono, the shortram is going to be much better for performance. ur stock air box has all sorts of lil chambers to slow down the air, an jus cuz u cut holes in the side isn't going to cure that. if u wait for the CAI, then ur going to be a lil disappointed. short ram on ur car will add maybe 4-5hp, an a CAI prolly around 5-6. so ur not going to feel the difference. the sound has nothing to do with ur performance, it jus comes down to how the air goes through the piping. in a short ram, the air is going to make a sound like when u blow on the top of a bottle, causing the sound. when u jus have a hole, its the same idea, jus for sound, but ur not going to have much, if any power gains from it. unless u enjoy havin the sound that much more, then i say, put the short ram on one last time, an then put some money into something else then a CAI. strodda 01-29-2003, 03:21 AM well i already have an aem cai, i just took it out a couple months ago when it was raining hard. thanks for the info though, guess ill put the shortram back in for now. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
