How do I kill the seat belt chime!floridafree 01-24-2003, 11:22 AM Anyone know how Ican stop this annoying chime in my 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee after driving about a mile the damn thing goes on is there a relay someplace that controls this thing? If I disconnect the chime I lose my electric door locks by the remote transmitter Iwant to kill the chime but still be able to lock my doors remotely any help is greatly appreciated. Scott 02 02-09-2003, 10:01 AM Put your seat belts on...Its the Law floridafree 02-09-2003, 11:36 AM That is not the problem! No matter if seat belt is connected or not seat belt chime or some other circuit is causing the chime to stay on constantly! You don't have to tell us we ALLwear seat belts all the time but this chime goes off even when seat belts are connected! Iwant to know what makes it chime the circuit being grounded or is it breaking a ground so Ican figure out why it chimes all the time! Scott 02 02-09-2003, 10:54 PM That must suck getting the chime all the time. I'll look into it for you... floridafree 02-10-2003, 11:08 AM Thanks in advance for any help Iwould just pull the chime BUT if you do that the auto door locks with remote don't work. I'm almost positive it is the seat belt circuit but not sure. It is a constant buzz but the strange thing is it does not come on right away it is like it is on a timer about a mile or two down the road it goes off and will chime for quite along time sometimes it goes off but comes back on to me it acts like there is a relay messing up Ihave no elect schematic if Ihave to I will have to buy one but was hoping some chrysler tech may be able to give me a tip. Thanks, Norm srdjs1 03-03-2003, 11:39 PM I had a freind of mine's truck and it had the same problem. What it ended up being was the little switch inside the connector that the belt tab goes into had a little micro switch that went bad. Just a thought. floridafree 03-07-2003, 08:44 AM Thanks for your suggestion about the microswitch I thought about that one my Jeep has 250,000 miles on it so I took a cheap alternative. I placed a toggle switch in the ground wire to the chime it the chime chimes I turn the switch on when I exit the jeep I flip the switch and it allows me to lock the doors by remote. I'lltry replacing the micro switch but why is it that when I disconnect the seatbelt the chime goes off anyway? The problem is also intermittent that is why I didn't think it was the belt switch but I may be wrong. It seems if the temp drops below a certain temp it acts up that is why I thought it may be a body control module problem rather than buy some $300.00 part I flip a cheap $2.00 switch it works and I can now drive in peace! stetson_wrangler 11-05-2004, 04:49 PM On my 94 cherokee the buzzer for the seat belt was on the fuse box. Removed it and no more buzzer. bmwilson 11-09-2004, 11:05 PM You could soundproof with a wrap, or if it is the speaker style you can fill the inside with some Great Stuff.
