both are officially manufacturers, but RUF are basically to Porsche what Brabus are to Mercedes

Ruf is a tuning house. They recieve Porsches from the factory through a special arrangement. Alois Ruf, at least his employees, then modify the cars.

They are still Porsches, just Ruf Porsches.

Well RUF isn't exactly JUST a tuner, they do produce tuned Porsches, but the R turbo is there own concoction. It's OFFICIALLY a RUF automobile when it leaves Germany, but not all RUF cars are made like this, most are like everyone said just a Porsche with RUF parts. As for the motors, they are just tuned. It's a sweet tune it plays.

To me, the "baddest" RUF is Yellow-Bird... check it out!

oh yeah, and the CTR2 Sport, which had such wild handling even fabled RUF test driver Stefan (i forget his second name), the Schwarzenegger of opposite lock, couldnt tame.. not to mention it looks awesome

theres so much cool RUF stuff on the net, articles, Yellow-Bird videos etc... look it up
