Didn't see the new Lightning, (please post pictures) but I am sure it is nice. That is my favorite Ford pick-up. Are you talking about the 2005 Mustang GT, which looks like the old Stangs, or the 2003 Mustang Mach I??

go to the gm page, and on there you can use the drag down bar to go to holden.com on the page look under new cars and check out mid size. that car you see is called a ute! but the pic you see is the ugly one! they have a ute ss that has body side moldings kinda like the third gen camaro. but the good news is, it packs a ls-1 and a six speed! now thats a car that can be called a el camino

Actually, *if* the SS ute makes it to the US as the El Camino, it will look more like this

or like this

These are all on sale in Australia at the moment, and are what they are talking about exporting to the USA. They would be available with a version of the LS1/Gen III V8 seen in the Corvette - tuned to about 340hp

its not an el camino. its a Holden Ute, and will never be titled el camino. it looks like a monte carlo wannabe truck. not good, but not bad

These are all pictures of the Holden Ute.

And they're not that bad. I wouldn't mind owning once...especially with a GEN III LS1 under the hood.

Just think would you could do if you added a turbo or two...:naughty:

You guys are killing me..LOL
The Ute kicks ass..
the LS1 plant here is awesome. but cant tell what the HP rating at the flywheel or what.
Maloo R8 has 285 KW which is about 380 HP...I think that at the fly wheel..
Dont get me wrong I love American cars more but these bad boys deserve some respect.
Some options even have a 330 KW which is 440 Hp.
I still think thats at flywheel but man that awesome dont ya think.
Sheeesh and put a turbo you'll be going waaaaaaay fast.

If GM starts importing the SS Ute to the states as an Elco I'll definitely buy one. A corvette with a bed How Sweet!!! I encourage everyone interested to write GM to show your support. If anyone has Bob Lutz E-mail let me know!!! I prefer to go straight to the top.

Later,

Have you guys seen the SST concept vehicle from Holden of australia? This would be a lot better 2005 Elco. If you haven't, imagine a Holden SS Ute with a flare side bed and a one ton weight capacity. Believe me it's sweeet!!!
Take Care!

About $25,000ish for an SS. All Aluminum Gen IV small block,4-sp. Auto, or 6-sp. manual, w/independent rear. Very nice!

I wouldn't mind having a Holden, I think it looks just as good as any other "modern" car - but then, look what I'm accustomed to:

Hey Randy,

Looks good to me! A Holden Ute would be a nice complement to a '59 ElCo. I'd like to have a '59 myself someday. I seen some really nice examples. I like them black myself. :b Apparently it looks really good to get "Utes" to the U.S. maybe before 2007 at the latest, from what articles I've been reading. Good Luck with your projects!

Cheers,
Brian

Wanna buy it?
I've gotten so bogged down, and with my current pay at 3/4 what it was; I'm entertaining serious offers.
It comes an entire storage shed full of spare body parts like doors, hood, fenders etc.
