It's a real E39 M5 Touring taken at the ///M offices in Germany. The car was built for an exec and seems to be a one-off.

Here are some pics of a custom M5 touring. I believe that they just took a 540 touring wagon and put in the ///M engine and made the cosmetic and exhaust changes. they already share the suspension and tranny.

Nice pics, still don't get the E39, E23, E49....

E followed by the numbers relates to the body style. The current 5 series is designated by E39, the last generation 5 series was the E34 and the next generation 5 series is the E60.
The current generation 3 series is the E46, the last generation was the E36 and the generation before that was the E30.
The current 7 series is the E65 and the last generation was the E38.
and so on for the 6, 8....series.
