I have a 1996 explorer with A 4R55E transmission (4 speed). I have A chance to buy a 5R55E(5 speed) with low miles on it out of A 1998. I was told it would bolt up, but they didn't know if it would work correctly with my computer. Anyone know the answer to this.

The newer transmissions are computer controlled. You would probably have to change out alot of stuff on the truck to get the 5 speed to work. If you want one that bad, buy a new truck with the 5 speed.
