removing stereo dash from '99 Tacoma

I have purchased the optional CD unit, and now want to install it into my factory stereo/cassette system. Sounds easy enough, just plug the CD unit into the stock system, and voila, it should work.

But the problem is I have no clue how to take the dash face-plate off. I'm talking about the one that covers the AC/Stereo controls.

Any quick guidelines off the top of anyone's head? Thanks a ton.

OK - I figured it out. Here is how you do it (sorry, I don't have pictures, but I'll be somewhat descriptive):

1. Pull out the AC button, and all the air/heating knobs
2. Pop out the faceplate for the AC/Heat controls
3. There are 2 screws now visible - that hold the top of the stereo console in place.
4. Pull out the ashtray, locate the single screw that holds the bottom of the stereo portion of the dash, take it out.
5. Now it gets tricky. You can gently pull the top of the console off now.. But do it gently.. After pulling it out a few inches, you can take a screwdriver and pry out the A/C wiring from the A/C push-button unit.
6. Next... This was a very hard thing to do (and I did it without breaking anything, maybe I got lucky).. Pull out the top of the dash component completely.. swivel it back towards you (the bottom portion will still be "stuck" beneath the bottom console cover).. You have to keep wedging that bottom part out.. From the look and feel, you'd think there is another "hidden" screw.. but there is not. What is resisting you now is a plastic/metal "plug", that connects the bottom of the dash component to the dash frame underneath.
7. After loosening this part, I was able to take out the stereo mounting unit without having to totally unhook the cigarette lighter or the 2 AC outlets.
8. Putting everything back together was very easy.. it all snapped right back into place, and all screwholes lined up perfectly.
9. One thing I noticed.. you can't push the A/C button back in until you have the AC/Heat/Fan faceplate back in place.

Good luck! I am now enjoying my new CD unit with my factory stereo, un-professionally installed by myself, but with a professional finished look and hookup.
