Hey guys my tranny is all fucked! Just last night I get in my car to take my friend home and the damn thing won't shift past 2nd! It's all gravy until it comes time for it to shift, and the the rev's just keep going! My car is equipped with the HKS ALC, but I removed that and tested, put it back on and tested! So, any info at all on what may have caused this, or how to fix it would be great!

Thanks

oh, P.S.>I should be racing right now, but I'm at home typing!

more info on the HKS ALC??

im guessing its reprogramming software for ur auto trans?

well, i think, if u havent tried it already, take out this 'HKS ALC', remove the negative battery terminal (thus, taking away electrical power) and forcing the car's computer to reset itself

... it may be worth a shot

It is a computer that maintains line pressure for performance shifting. when you mash the pedal it ingages the ALC. Otherwise it is normal shifting.

You can't shift it into 3rd? You should try changined the fluid and the filter, this can often make a world of difference.

I really don't see any reason why it would do this suddenly, unless you dumped a lot of fluid.

Then again, this may be the opportune time to pick up that $1600 VG30DETT and tranny...

Hey, this morning on the way into work it shifted to 3rd! And, then nothing:mad: It shifted twice to third, so maybe some progress! I am going to change the Trans. fluid and filter, to see if that was the problem. Does anyone else have suggestions to what it may be?

old fluid changes viscosity and thus changes performance, add a cloged filter and dirty fluid, and it wont have the right pressure. Other than that, if it wont shift and its not the comp *tested by reseting like earlier stated* then your probally fucked, and somethingin the valve body is cloged or broken, eater way extremly hard for someone to fix if they dont know what they are doing...believe me....I know ...:(

The way it's going i think I just need a fluid change, and filter. I've got three days off this week! There goes my vacation!

Bah, it's not hard, just messy... have lots of newspaper under the car, and preferrably a tarp under that.

The big issue is whether or not your tranny pan has a drain plug or not. I changed the fluid on my van, and it didn't have a plug! Result? I had to unbolt it very slowly, and tilt the pan to drain it. After you remove the pan, it'll keep dripping for a long time.

It should take maybe an hour, counting jacking up the car and letting it drain.

Yeah I believe the post 93' Z's have a drain plug. My only delimma is that I have a custom exhaust, with no cats. So, everything is welded together, and now I don't know if I can get the pan out. The closest spot I can un bolt is at the exhaust manifold.?!

Ah, that makes things tricky then... well, I think I know the answer...

VG30DETT and 6 speed!

Oh, If I only had the means! Wanna lend a friend about $2500! Well go ahead and make it $3000!

If I had that kind of money to throw around, I'd be driving the 924 right now :D

Come on, that one company only wants $1600! I guess they don't consider anything that's not Honda worth charging for...
