Cool fan belt

I have a 1999 Chevy sliverado 4wd. Great condition, only 40k. After the truck Has ran for 10 15 min, and gets warmed up there is a terrible screaching/squealing noise from the fan belt. Only does this after it has been running for a while. You can shut it off, and start it right back up, and it will not do it for another min or 2. Have tried to wire brush it, to remove any film. Didn't help at all. Please help.

I'm no mechanic, but I would first make sure it's the belt that's making the noise. If it is, just have the belt replaced. It shouldn't cost too much just to change a fanbelt. There are products on the market that you can apply to a belt to make it quieter, but I can't imagine that it lasts very long. Good luck.

Could be one of the pulleys or pulley driven assemblies that's making the noise after warm up. Belts don't usually make noise unless they're slipping or rubbing on something in a way they're not supposed to.

Re: fan belt
