2001 Cavalier

I just replaced the dome light in my 01 Cavalier (it didn't have one when I bought it) and the dome light comes on when I stop at red lights or anytime that the vehicle stops moving. Also when you turn the car off and get out, the dome light will stay on. I went into the store and when I came out, the dome light was still on. Anybody have any ideas what is wrong with my dome light? I have took it back out for the time being.

Re: 2001 Cavalier

try playing with your dimmer switch. Its a little scrolling device which controls the gauge cluster and override for the dome light. If you go all the way forwards it gets parked in the ON position. You could also have a bad door sensor as well.
