K&N filter charger - worth it?

I just got a good deal on a used K&N filter charger for my 96 Tahoe, and I plan on installing it later next week when I get it.

If you've installed it on your vehicle, was it worth it?

This debate rages on throughout the forum all the time. Some say yes, others say no. Here is a link to a thread that discusses the K&N filter:http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=741216

Ah, good thread.

I figure for $40 delivered to my door it's worth it since Purolators are around $33 plus shipping. I'd never have gone out of my way to spend $150+ on one, but at this price I think it will be worth it.

Plus, the sound will be cooler.......

K&N Filters allow much more dirt into the engine than a good paper filter. I've said that in the past, and someone always says the test was unfair because it's biased against the K&N filters because...

Look at the air intake before you put the K&N on, and again several months after. Vehicles with K&N filters almost always have a visable layer of dust past the filter.
