Do people in Europe or Japan drive Corvettes?Omni9X 12-07-2002, 09:05 PM Do people in Europe or Japan drive Corvettes? Do japanese spec cars have english, or japanese labeling on them? Is the Honda badge an H in Japan? Stefanel1 12-22-2002, 05:25 PM I don't know for Japanese, but in Europe, there are few Corvette. People do prefer Porsche, BMW, Alfa, etc. I personnally saw maybe 2 or 3 new Corvette here in France, much more Porsche or Maserati for example. In Europe, there is an "H" for Honda, and I think it's the same in Japan. pirex 10-21-2004, 09:24 AM We have lots of corvette in europe! Thats a fact :) Stefanel1 10-22-2004, 05:42 AM I'm sorry, but Corvette are not numerus in Europe ! Maybe in Norway or in Scandinavia (I'll see that next month in Sweden) but in Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Belgium, the Nederlands, even in England, there are few Corvette ! Look at the sales figures ! TRD2000 10-28-2004, 03:27 PM honda IS an H is japan. Japanese cars come with a mixture of english and japanese, but nearly all japanese. Inside the car buttons and things in mine are english but my friends subaru (had... he hit a cow last weekend) japanese for the sat nav and climate startup screen and stuff. Also seen japanese on like the overdrive/power button on some autos. GF's FTO is all in english except for one button on the minidisc player. many come with TV screens on the domestic market and they are in japanese. OH and the manuals are all in japanese. The new corvette is the only one that can turn corners, which is a prerequisit in the rest of the world. so perhaps it will get a bit more credit outside the US. the older models appeal for their uniqueness and style, but its a very small market that goes for a car just for looks and only a percentage will go for the corvette. chevydrummer76 10-29-2004, 01:26 AM only the new corvettes can take corners? they've been able to take corners for a while. ec437 10-29-2004, 01:51 AM for what, like 10 years, maybe? Forgive me if I am wrong, for I know nothing of GM cars. TRD2000 10-31-2004, 05:49 PM my grandma can take corners in her humber, theres a difference in cornering between normal cars and sports cars. and theres a difference between cornering standards of american cars and the rest of the world. Previously the corvettes cornering has been nowhere near the standard of global sports cars, but yes, better than american passenger cars. chevydrummer76 10-31-2004, 08:26 PM the early 90's zr-1 vettes handled very well TRD2000 10-31-2004, 08:47 PM compared to a 70's truck??? sure. chevydrummer76 11-01-2004, 06:07 PM compared to everything from that era edonis 02-17-2005, 09:53 AM I don't know where in Norway pirex lives, but it's not often I see a Corvette. I see Maseratis, Ferraris and Porsches much more often.. I've probably seen about 10 corvettes in my life.. That's not a lot.. :D Speedsteve 02-17-2005, 11:05 AM In Germany the Corvette is in the same class as BMW, Mercedes and Porsche. The old Corvette had a very bad image. And image is important in this class! The Handling, the Quality and the Interior Design is not typical German Taste. The new C6 is significant better. But is that enough? I do not believe! And japanese Cars? Not in this Price Class! A handful Lexus but no large success! With Italians, English and French Cars in this Class it is the same. sub006 03-13-2005, 07:04 PM There have been Corvette clubs in Germany and Switzerland for decades! They show up and park together at major races and have unlimited top-end runs on the Autobahn. Plus England has about half a dozen dealers specializing in used Corvettes. A lot of Brits like '50s-'70s American iron, and Corvettes appear at their "Yank Car Shows". sub006 03-13-2005, 07:08 PM Forgot to mention, my immediate family owns a 2004 Silverado 4X4, a 98 BMW 318i, a 90 Surburban, an 84 BMW 318i, an 80 BMW 320i, a 64 Corvette roadster (since 66) and a 63 Chevy II 100 2-door post (with a 388 sprint car engine "donated" by the 'Vette). kman10587 03-13-2005, 10:21 PM The new corvette is the only one that can turn corners, which is a prerequisit in the rest of the world. The Corvette has always put up some of the best lap times that any car in its price range could put up. The C6 is not the first Corvette that can handle well. The C5 Z06 actually handles better than the C6. In fact, the C5 Z06 even handles well enough to (*gasp* brace yourself!) run with the R34 Skyline GT-R V-Spec II at Nurburgring. I know of numerous high-end motorsports groups in Japan that import and tune all kinds of Corvettes. Yes, I agree that much of the Corvette's appeal is in its image and its heritage, and that doesn't really fly in Europe and Japan, but a true automotive enthusiast from any country will appreciate the Corvette and its fine engineering. Speedsteve 03-14-2005, 08:35 AM Corvette? In Germany? No, we love small Sportcars! http://www.kwad.de/F100_freigestellt_kwad_400.jpg :evillol: :evillol: :evillol: TRD2000 03-14-2005, 03:15 PM thats like saying people in NZ drive Enzo's... i don't know if the fact that a small amount of any population doing something really signifies that thats what the majority choose... 57JagXKSS 03-15-2005, 11:40 PM The people who import Corvettes charge a lot for them. The C6 will go to the UK officialy along with new Cadillacs. They NEED to price it right in order to get more sales than the C5. Read here. http://pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=9511 The 2005 Corvette and the 2006 Corvette Z06 are a lot better than the Corvettes they replace. The new fenders look a lot like the fenders of the C2 and C3 Corvettes.
