Hey,

I have a 1996 Saturn SL1 and the low coolant/high temp lights keep flashing. I looked in the owners manual and it states that if its not the coolant level (the temp guage reads normal, and there is enough fluid in the tank) then its a high transaxle fluid temp. I've never had the tranny flushed and the car has 90,000 miles. Whats the problem? Thanks

Wow i've never heard that. Maybe that's for automatics. Might be a bad ECTS, maybe just need to clean the reservoir tank. I also hear the sensor for that coolant level is really sensitive so be sure the reservoir is truly full.

My light constantly flashed during the two years i had my sedan. Dunno why, but it didn't stir up any issues.

I had this very same problem with one of my 96 sl1's That light started to flicker here and there and then it stayed on constantly. about a month of it being on solid, I had to have the throttle body replaced on the tranny. Jus keep an eye on it. if the car ever gets to hot that it wont go in reverse when you put it in reverse then its needing a new throttle body. course if you live where it is cold right now you aint gonna find that out till spring. least you could do is have the tranny flushed and have them do a pressure test on all the lines.

clean your resivior tank. the sensor is located at the bottom and sometimes gets plugged up. if that doesnt help then you might need a new sensor. you cant get one by itself so you have to buy the entire resivior tank instead
