I have a 99 silverado, 1500, single cab, short bed an was hoping someone could tell me if the leaf springs off a 2500 of a similar year & body style truck would fit on mine.

I pull a piece of equipment with my truck but it makes the rear end squat about 7" once its hooked up. The way the trailer is... I have to actually place a jack under the truck hitch and raise it back up in order to allow the jack on the trailer to rotate down so I can dolly it down.

I have skyjacker air shocks on there, but they only almost do the trick, and e rated tires with 60psi. I dont really want to put any type of lift on my truck.. and I dont think the add a leaf's would quite do the trick.

I just want to stiffen up the rear end... so it doesnt squat so much when its hooked up to the trailer.

Have you checked to see if you are under the tongue weight limit? It sounds like you are way over and no mater what you do to the truck if you are over the factory limit and have a accident guess what...no insurance for an over-loaded un-safe vehicle.

Its not overloaded. I have a class iv hitch on there and the trailers tongue weight is 680 lbs. Thanks for your concern and legal advice though.

Withough getting into specifics of the particular trailer, I'm not able to rotate the bulldog jacks down unless the trailers tongue height is over 26". The ball on the truck sits at 29" unloaded now. I have the proper equipment just wanted to eliminate the anoying need to jack up the rear end of the truck to drop the trailer.

Well...it really sounds like you know what you are doing and I wish I had an answer for you. Here we have a truck frame shop that I could go to for advice...maybe you have something like that where you live.

Yeah the leaf springs that I have on this truck are only 3 leafs and dont really do much. I was thinking earlier today that I ought to call some 4x4 places and pick up some discared spring packs, cut of the eyes one the long one of each pack and just add a new leaf to my existing leaf springs that way... but then I thought that there may be some discarded 2500 leaf springs at these places... so.... I had that thought and its after business hours... and I now have that burning question in my mind lol

2500HD springs will indeed bolt right on. I have a 99 1500 that I installed 02 2500HD springs on last fall. I did not use the factory 1500 blocks and it maintained factory ride height.

I have 1500 5.3l sil bought with tow pkg. factory installed sticker says max tongue wt=500lbs max load =5000lbs. in the spec book it is written max load total 7000lbs.........so you are as far as vehicle design is concerned little over. adding the 2500 springs should do it....

My 99 half ton has leaf springs from a 1994 Sub under it. I had to reuse the top spring from the 99 and dismantle the 94 springs and put them together. Works great and no more sag!
