P0352 code plus others

'97 escort wagon 123,000 miles 5 speed. It seem to lose a little power after I cranked it and was backing up, the check engine light was flashing, and then it was fine and the light stayed on. Codes I got were P0302, P0303, and P0352. Plugs replaced in Dec. '06(I guess I could check those), new wires in May '07, so I replaced the ignition coil cause that was not replaced since '03. It was fine and then it did it again later in the day when I went somewhere for a minute or two, cleared up, came back with same codes. Any thoughts?

Bad wires. It is possible that the wires have gone bad again. If they have they could be damaging the coil again. The P0352 deals with the primary coil secondary circuit. It is also possible that the capacitor associate with the coil is bad too.

Re: P0352 code plus others

PO 302 and PO 303 are misfires on cylinders 2 and 3. Then the Primary or Secondary circuit malfunction. Check the boots on the plugs to see if they are on tightly. Check the other end of the wires for the same thing. Check the wiring harness going into the coil. Is it on there good? No corrosion on the terminals. GTP Dad may be right about faulty wires damaging the coil. I've got 168k on my 97 and have the original wires and coil. I'd think your wires would have lasted longer than 8 months and your coil would have lasted longer than 3 years. But then again some of the aftermarket wires aren't that good. Can you hear any ignition noise through the radio?

Re: P0352 code plus others

I checked the plugs and they look fine. I guess I will swap out the wires, they have a LLwarranty anyways. It hasn't done it since that second time, and after I cleared the check engine light after the first time, it came on rather quickly again when it acted up the second time, but since I cleared it after that, it hasn't come back on and my wife drove it to take the kids to and from school. We switched cars today so I'll see what it does today. I checked out all the electrical wires and everything looked good, and everything is plugged in where it goes tightly, nothing loose anywhere.

Re: P0352 code plus others

I went to get new wires but they have to order them from another store cause we're going with the higher ones. it started doing it continuously yesterday on my wife. she said it was like the car had no power, and was stuttering. she had to drive home doing about 30. luckily she had just left the house so she was only about a mile away. I'll let you know what happens when I put the new wires on today, when they come in. since it didn't clear up when we switch the coil, cause that wasn't the problem, I put the old one back on, and am going to return the new one. if they won't take it back then I guess I'll just keep it and have it for when I do need a new one. I would rather put that $43 towards the real problem. If the wires don't fix it then I guess my next step is going to dealership and let them diagnosis it so I can fix it.

drove it friday, saturday, today while at the store, it started up again with loss of power, stuttering, and same codes so it's not the wires. I'm at a loss. I guess the stealership will diagnosis it.
