It could be the ignition switch which is located on the steering column. You have to drop the column to change it, which is easier than it sounds. But first you need to do a simple test with a test light to see if the start terminal at the starter is getting power. Take the start terminal off at the starter, attach the lead to it. Stick the probe onto the big post on the starter and have someone turn the key to the start position. The car won't crank, so don't worry about it trying to start. If the light comes on, you have power and the problem is not the ignition switch. Next look for a bad fusible link, follow the starter wires back up until you come to it. It looks like a barrel around the wire, give the wires on both sides a gentle tug, if it comes apart the link is bad.
This should get you "started" in the right direction, good luck.
