Is SLR racing still around?

I placed an order for some Bilstein Shocks 4 weeks ago now . They have never contact me at all. I called both phone numbers on their website. Nothing at all . They did bill me $462 dollars but no shocks. I hope I haven't been ripped off!

SLR (not SLR Racing, that's redundant), is still around. They're just busy. Couple of weeks ago there was a rumor they were affected by the California fires, but that was not the case. As of 11/8:

OK...here is the response from SLR himself (or someone in his shop as it was posted by his account)

"NO FIRE... We are working trying to get caught up on internet orders... Leave a message and we will get back to you.

We had some custom builds and BAJA projects that took up a lot of our time.

Thanks, SLR"

Thanks Offroad X . I guess I take back what I said about you on my simple ABS question you could have just answered instead of being a tool .

SLR never contacted me about my Bilstein shock order. It was over two months. I disputed it and got my money back . I placed an order from Eshocks.com and saved money and actually have the shocks 48 hours later . I would never again try to purchase from SLR!!!:banghead:

Not sure what the deal is. When I ordred my shocks from SLR they were drop shipped from Bilstein a few days later.

Typically I get a call from Spencer that day or the next at the latest after leaving a message. SLR does a lot of fabrication work outside of just sitting by the phone waiting to ship parts. I guess that's the good and the bad. You get quality tested parts, which is why I use them, but sometimes you have to be patient for their sales people get caught up. There are other companies out there that just sell parts, but then you get crap on time.

I would have no problem at all waiting I called them about 18 times. No one ever picked up the phone and no one ever returned any of my E-mails. I would most likely go with Calmini who have always been great to go to. I would also buy from Shrockworks. will never go to SLR again . I wanted to change out my shocks on the beginning of October now it's the beginning of Decemeber. I froze my rear end off trying to free shock bolts when it was 15 degrees outside. That added to experiance of dealing with SLR.

I tried calling Mr. Spencer about order from October but the phone number was disconnected. Did he change his number or move?

If your going to run a business dealing with customers, then you should answer phones or return calls in a timely manner. They want your money up front for their product, then give people the blow off? Hire a receptionist. I'd be hot as well. Just seeing these postings makes me leery of doing business with them. Sounds like SLR is headed down the path of losing the battle of keeping a business open in a competitve market. There's plenty of other companies to buy quality products from for your Xterra.

For example, Jim at Shrockworks has never treated me like this on any of the multiple purchases I've made with him. He'll tell you straight up where he's with production of your item and when you can expect to get it.

Another example. Skidrow Automotive. They actually have the product in stock that they advertise for sell. What a concept!

Yeah, SLR has cool, innovative products, but is it worth the headache dealing with them?

:shakehead I hear you Shrockworks is awesome. SLR never contacted me. Thank god my back is great or I would be out $468.00 . Never again . Your right about it being a competitive market. Bilstein North America says they lost their distributor status. Looks like they are going downhill for sure.

SLR is done. Spencer has essentially shut down, and moved out of town.

Some rumors about him still fulfilling on previous orders. New orders are obviously done.

Some Frontier owners have been essentially given the shaft on previous orders. Seems like he is picking and choosing what he wants to do.

Goes back to my original statement. He never gave good customer service. Guys were always waiting for their orders for an extra long time. But he sure took their money fast. He was doomed to fail with those types of business practices. Sounds like it's better off this way.

I would contact your banks/credit cards ASAP. There is a 2 weeks window usually that you can get your money back. I did that or I would be out $468.00 right now because they shafted me. I would contact your banks and credit cards to get refunded. Can't hurt to make a phone call everyone.
