Ford Expertise needed!! swapping engines

Ok guys, i need sum Ford Expertise!!

I had a late 80's Mustang i pulled a H.O. engine from. I made a trade with a friend, and he dropped that engine into his 93 Ford F-150. (The engine had Roller Rockers among other goodies and was extremely strong)
However, he's having major problems getting it to run right.

Now, question, I read that 94 and previous F-150 come with "S.O" Standard Output firing order, which is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8
And 95 and newer, come with a "H.O." High Output firing order, which is 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

However, will this set up work? I had to set the firing order to H.O. firing and it fires up, but runs horribly. My question is, what are my options? Because injector firing is going to still be 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 right? I suspect this is the reason the truck is running like crap...

Thanx!!

Re: Ford Expertise needed!! swapping engines

13726548 is the firing order for the 351W. The HO 302`s used the same crank/cam configuration as the 351, the pistons come up on compression in a different sequence so it has a different firing order than the standard 302. The standard small blocks(221-302), used 15426378. Youll have to rewire your injectors to match the HO`s firing order and it should run ok. Mark the injector harness plugs and number them, then move #5 to #3, #4 to #7...ect. You will have to pull the harness out of the looms and split the tape/conduit and seperate the wires to make em reach. Then you may still have to splice some to make em long enuff.

I think Uncle has it right about switching your injectors around. If all else fails, buy a high perform intake manifold and carb, along with an old fashion distributor and wire it up like a hot rod.
