Thumbs up Sylvania Silverstar headlamps

I just replaced my headlamp bulbs with Sylvania Silverstar bulbs. Man, what a difference! They are pretty expensive ($20-$25 per bulb) but well worth it. They are not only brighter, but it's a much "cleaner, whiter" light. My 2000 uses the 9005 bulb for highbeam and the 9006 bulb for lowbeam. I have no idea if other years are different. They meet all DOT requirements for wattage, lumens, and glare, so they are 100% legal. Buying all 4 bulbs was an $80 upgrade, but I have no regrets. Also, there is currently a $10 mail-in rebate (one per household). Check 'em out:

i've been looking for some new lights. I've seen the silverstar @ autozone for $20 ea. I was wondering about them and the cool blue lights. APC also has some that r cheaper.

Don't waste you money on "the cool blue lights", they burn out after 2 ot 3 months. The Sylvania Silverstars are they way to go.

Not true. I have Wizard bulbs and have had them since Feb. or March of 2001.

I installed the silverstars in my 2000 silverado as well and i agree, what a differnece... have had them about a year now. Was thinking of buying the bulbs and replacing the high beams as well then getting the relay kit so when you have it on brights both hi and low beams are on together

HID's are the way to go
4000k = white
6000k = aqua
8000k = blue
10000k = purple

one you try HID's you'll never go back

Re: Sylvania Silverstar headlamps

I got my high and low Silverstar bulbs on eBay for about 20.00 each. I have had them for about four months and the cheapest I could find in stores were about 30.00 each. I think they really make a difference. I thought people would flash their lights at me thinking I had high beams on. That has not been the case.
