Unhappy 1999 Oldsmobile Alero running hot...

I have a 1999 Alero that seems to be running hot when it is not in motion. I have replaced my water pump and thermostat. It continues to run hot when I am simply at a red light or in a drive-through. My fans seen to be running just fine. But I don't know what else it could be. Can somebody please help....

Re: 1999 Oldsmobile Alero running hot...

Welcome to AF.

Could be several things to cause this.

If the cooling system hasnt been serviced resently it might be time for a cooling system flush and new antifreeze added.

If thats been done, then you could have a bad lower intake gasket(LIM) leak.

AN air pocket trapped in the cooling system can make it run hot also.

hope that helps.
