97 Rear leafspring bushings

I have a 97 Passport 4wd that I bought new rear leafspring bushings for. Is it tricky to replace these or pretty straight forward? I hoping to get rid of that rear end rattling sound and read here thats a good place to start. Any tips would be great, Thanks

Re: 97 Rear leafspring bushings

its straight foward. i did it by jacking the vehicle up until the wheels were off the ground ALL THE WAY then putting jack stands under the frame on both sides lower the rear end back down until the shackles swing free. soak the bolts with plenty of GOOD penetrating fluid and then brake the bolts loose. more than likely your shackles will be rusted. (mine were) so either sand them and paint them or replace them with some stock height ones from independent4x.com other than that its an easy fix. remember that the tires cant be resting on the ground to do this or things could get tricky or difficult. by making the shackles swing neutral the leafsprings wont move around so you won't have to wrestle them back into position they will already be there. mine in my car were COMPLETELY gone on both sides so i tore my shackles up i just havent had the cash to replace them yet.
