I had to replace my egr valve to but i just took one off a rodeo of the same year at a junk yard and it works just as good as a new one. it might go out faster than a new one but it is a whole lot cheaper than getting a new one. we priced one at advanced auto parts and i think it was like $150.

is it easy to clean it ? I have a low voltage on the odbII sensor, maybe a good cleaning could solve my issue.... my truck works well as long as the check engine light is on (90% of the time) ... when it off, the rpm is raising/droping like hell...

check the FAQ for the egr cleaning. yes it's easy and often that's all you need.
it's probably running ok when the light's on because the computer is using some default driveability values to determine fuel and timing rather than the sensor inputs.
have you gotten the codes read? what numbers do you have? why do you suspect the egr?

i love a good intermittent electrical challenge. . .especially when it's someone else's.
There really aren't that many total manufacturers for auto parts. There are a ton of different brands though that probably all come from one or two root sources.
In other words, aftermarket should be just fine since there is a good chance it's coming from the same factory that made the OEM part.
