98 Jimmy Multiple problems

98 Jimmy 4X4, 4.3 V6' 101K miles. I have multiple problems.

1 Key stuck in ign. (can remove with pen in release hole)
2 SIR light goes on & off while driving. (or may work as it is suppose to)
3 Gas gage reads OK, then empty, then full while driving. (or may work as it is suppose to)
4 T-case makes noise - shift to 4 lock and noise quits. (this has happened 4 times in the last 6,000 miles)
5 Trip/compass in O/H console has died.

Is there a possibly of a common link to these problems? (such as a connector or ground?)

Thanks
Terry

Re: 98 Jimmy Multiple problems

Welcome to AF.
It could go either way.
Get a good volt ohm meter and check power feeds and fuses and grounds.

On the air bag light get the code when the light is on and post back code.

MT 2500
Air bag code is B1036
Temp control B0408
Loss of BCM U1064
Fuel level sensor P0463
All these codes were history and were cleared 4 days ago. I will try to get codes checked again in the next day or two to see what ones might have come back.
Thanks
Terry

Re: 98 Jimmy Multiple problems

Codes may point to a voltage lose.
If any come back post back code no.
Go over all power feeds and grounds and fuses real good.
Good Luck

MT2500
I Just got the codes checked again today and there was 3
B1036
P0463
P0453
I looked at my notes and I had P0453 on my list the first time and neglected to list it in my first message.
I found out 453 & 463 are set by the gas gage fluctuating from full to empty.
Thanks
Terry

Re: 98 Jimmy Multiple problems

Them codes should not be giving you the problems in your first post.

B1036 is a (SIR) air bag problem.
Is the air bag light on all of the time or coming and going?
If light on it sjhould be fixed for the air bag to work right.

P0453 is a fuel tank pressure sensor problem P0463 is the fuel gauge code.

The U1064 body module code in post 3 would more explain your problems.

Was there any other codes stored in history or memory?

Are you still having the same problems or has anything changed?

Air bag lite comes and goes as it pleases
Just 3 codes stored this time. Don't know if they were history or current. they were cleared. I will have them checked in a few more days and report back.
Thanks
