2001 BMW 3 series, how to get a new key

Hi Friends, I just bought a 2001 BMW 3 series from an auction, but it came without key. ignition switch and the car is in perfect condition, only problem is no key. does anyone know the cheapest way to get a new key. Thanks

Yeah, the ONLY way to get a new key is to take your VIN # and registration card or title to a dealer, who will verify proper ownership and then order the key. They will not have any in stock and it'll take a week or so to arrive. A key with 3 buttons (like the originals) will cost $145 but you can get the "valet" key (without any buttons) for about $35.

you guys get it all for cheap down in states.
the one with 3 buttons is almost $300 in Canada.
lost mine like a year ago,with my ownership and driver`s license locked in the car. :-(
