Siverado 4wd switch operation & lights

I would like to know what is the purpose of the indicator light next to the Neutral word on the 4 button 4WD switch. I have a 2000 2500 chevy Z71.

Does this transfer case have a neutral position?

How can the transfer case be put into a neutral position if possible?
