Cant shift out of park,when I am able to shift into reverse or drive,the indcting lights on the dash dont light up,or match with the position the gear is in.If its in drive,the ligts say its in reverse.What do I need to do to fix this problem.I have been stranded for hours in town when this happens,and its beginning to happen quite often.

Classic. Check the FAQs and look for range mode sensor.

Yep, common failure for later Rodeos. Repair or replace the range mode sensor.
