Smile G,day from down under

hey everyone.
im currently in the process of restoring a 1987 280i hardtop with the aim of turning it into a street/track weapon. at the moment i have a getrag 5 speed to replace the auto and im stuck between putting in a small block ford V8 in it or keeping the six banger. does anyone know what options i have to replace the horrible Bosch k-jet system? so far i can only find the Offenhauser 4-barrel manifold, but these cost an arm and a leg brand new, not to mention fright costs. im thinking about fabricting my own triple-weber manifold, as i already got three carbies sitting around. any input at all on this would be greatly appriciated, cos the cars not doing me any good sitting around my yard lol.
cheers
earl
