What do you mean the rear deck, back where the 6x9's sit or the rear of the stereo deck?

The noise could be anything from the clips that hold it in, a part on the 6x9, a wire that is rattaling, tons of things. What i would do is duct tape all the wires to the metal or anything that will support them and allow them no freeplay, then i would just tap around with my finger on stuff to see if it rattels, then check the speaker to make sure everything is tight, then put it all back together making sure all the clips are in properly

I pulled the rear deck above the speakers out and it doesn't help, so i don't suggest that! Also, it's hard to do! it took me forever to get back into place and i cracked some of the interior trim! DO NOT TRY!

sim problem

I've got a 96 grand am, I put 6X9's back there too, to remove the deck cover back there properly, you first need to remove the back seats and then the trim and the deck comes out last. If you don't do it in that order than you'll F things up. I've got two 12 inch subwoofer's in the trunk, it's rattling like a mofo right now, i've kinda learned to live with it, i tried the dynamat which is a kinda foam that quits the rattling but it's still there.

Rattling

Another thing I just found out is that my whole trunk lid is actually vibrating and rubbing up against the weatherproofing rubber by the window, i'm trying out the dynamat there too, it's helping a bit. I think 2 12's are just too big for a grand am, hahaha. The bass hits so hard I can hear things rattling in the door frames. And the interior lights dim everytime the bass hits even when the car is on.

I'll tell you what I've got in my '96 GA GT and what I did to solve the rattle problem. I have a JVC CD head unit (50WX4) pushing the 4 stock interior speakers. Then I have 2 - 12" Fosgate subs with a 1200W Fosgate amp. It rattled really badly when I first got everything in there. I wondered if I'd pushed my 6x9's too hard because the rattle sounded like it was coming from the back deck. One day I cranked it up and got in the backseat. I put my hands up on top of the rear deck lid. It was really vibrating and rattling, so I put some pressure down on it to stop the rattle...it went away. So I just went down the the auto parts store and got some rubber weatherstripping. I cut a strip as wide as the rear deck lid and proceeded to push it in between the rear deck lid and rear window. That solved the problem. No rattles now. I don't use any dynamat at all. The system hits pretty hard. The subs and amp aren't too big...it sounds really good. The rear deck lid is made of a fiber board that makes a huge rattle sound when the bass hits, but the weatherstrip will fix that.
Hope that helps.
