First problem I have, is I can hear a high pitched whirring/whining sound from underneath the truck. (no, there are no children stuck underneath) First thing I thought of was the fuel pump. The engine starts/drives smooth, so not sure if that is an issue or not. Can really hear it clearly for a few seconds after I shut the truck off. Any ideas?

The second is definately a problem. It's a loud screeching sound coming from the rear of the truck. I noticed I was even able to hear the sound when I was tightening the rear lugnuts after putting the wheel back on, and the truck rocked forward a little bit. It gets louder at speed, and a new sound comes into play that in my mind, sounds like something passing over a rough spot. Truck has 4 wheel disc brakes. I took off the rear brakes today and sprayed in some brake cleaner and did a visual inspection. Rotors are smooth, and pads seemed ok. Pads have plenty of material left, and rotors are nice and thick. Sound happens when going both in forward and reverse. When standing outside and listening, it almost sounds as if it's predominatly coming from the passenger side rear. But again, it's very difficult to tell.

Any ideas? Doesn't seem to make a difference when I'm braking, but is terribley embarassing to screech past people when driving.

The fuel pump runs just a few seconds then shuts off when you first turn the keyswitch on without starting the motor...give that a look see.

See if there's anything dragging on the driveshaft, I had a muffler just barely dragging once...hadda ring wore through the paint on it.

Did you check the parking brakes, they are actualy inside the rotors on the rear discs. see if applying the parking brakes makes a change in the sound.
