hearing a slight tapping noise as you accelerate?chevyman501 10-19-2007, 10:34 PM I am hearing a slight tapping noise as you first take off from a stop and just before the transmission shifts through gears. It seems to be coming from the engine and does not do it idling whether in park or just sitting at a light. Any suggestions? edson4433 10-19-2007, 11:21 PM Start with the basics. Are you using cheap gas? This can cause a "ping" when you accelerate that is timed with the engine. It may also sound like a tap. Or does it sound like a knock? Engine knock has a much deeper tone. If you can check your spark plugs, You could have a bad plug or a coil pack that has gone south. chevyman501 10-20-2007, 09:48 AM I am using shell gasoline so i dont think it could be bad gas, i havent checked the plugs yet. I have heard this could cause it so that will be the first thing i check. Thanks for the advice. marty carlo 10-27-2007, 01:42 PM maybe u have a loose torqe converter that will click untill it has momentum to stick to one side Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
