4t65e transaxle replacement

2003 se 3.1 60,000 4t65e getting ready to put a rebuilt in myself in the driveway.
It should be straight forward but... How do these axles come out of the tranny? do you pry them out with a crow bar? And after I do get the rebuilt tranny back in does the computor need to be reset? Is there any other tips or problems one might want to look out for?

Re: 4t65e transaxle replacement

in your driveway? Yeah man, I dont think thats such a good idea. Make sure that the motor wont fall out. I hope you have at least 1 motor hook and a ton of jackstands because you have to take subframe off. The transaxel has to come out the bottom. I guess I have a hard time seeing how its going to work in your driveway.

Oh, btw, for the axels, you take a prybar and position it so the sharp end is touching the axel and then use the tranny housing to pry aginst. If you dont do it this way you could damage a seal, but your swapping trannys anyway so i guess it doesnt matter.

Re: 4t65e transaxle replacement

hey I'm always up for something new. It's just nuts and bolts. If wasnt meant to come apart and then back together they would'nt make them with nuts and bolts. I'll keep you posted on how it goes
