Unhappy Help!!

Help!! I am having car trouble and I don't know what exactly is wrong. Please help if you can....I have a '95 Rodeo. All was well until I tried to start it last Monday, it doesn't seem to want to turn over all the way, I am not sure if it is the alternatior or not, however I ususally get 230 miles per tank and I am at 290 right now, I am wondering if I am out of gas and it is just not registering on the meter. The car seems to want to start then chokes out, after a while of trying the battery get's week....any suggestions as to what is wrong? Thanks for the help!:help:
