Hi guys

My wife owns the above honda 2004 1.7 4 door civic. The problem that we are having is with the engine light. It keeps coming back on. We take it to the dealer and they say there is nothing wrong with it and reset the light. 2-3 days later it's back on. We live in Thailand so our owner manual is in Thai and it's pretty rough going at the dealers....any hints...please

Try to get the code that the system is logging. That will help narrow it down greatly.

I've asked the Honda dealer for the code but they say there isn't one. They just reset the light everytime we go in. I really don't understand it. I would have thought if the light came on there would have to be a problem whether it be big or small....

The light always seems to come on a day or two days after the reset. Goes off at night when the engine is resting and comes on the following day, probably after about 50km. What I really don't understand is the car is running as normal. Or at least nothing that my untrained eye/ear can spot or see.

Is it possible to ignore this light....??? or would that be asking for trouble

There has to be a code otherwise the light wouldnt be on. Buy a pocket scanner from the auto parts store that works with OBD3 ( I think '04 is OBD3, might be OBD 2 still)
