Can I Bypass A/C with smaller belt?????

I have a 2000 Chevy Impala 3.8L. My a/c compressor is really rattling bad and its not in my budget at the moment to have replaced, plus winter is right around the corner. My question is instead of using a bypass pulley (which I assume i have to pull compressor out) can i just use a smaller belt and bypass a/c? Anyone have suggestions on size & how to route.

no! your pulley bearing is corroded and you must use replacement pulley or r/r a/c compresser. I just r/r a pulley bearing on a 3.8l monte carlo. this can be done on the car BUT i dont think you will find any professional willing to do it.. I did this repair for my daughter bearing cost 9.00. a/c compressor will cost you $475 plus 2-300.00 labor.replacement pulley 60.00
