IP Problems
Heres a odd issue..... While driving my IP will all of a sudden reset its self. And what i mean by that is that all of the gages (Speedo, fuel, temp, and tach) will jump to its highest point, then bottom out, them return to normal, then all the idiot lights will come on, like the car was restarted or something. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Re: IP Problems
Loose connector at the back?
Do your radio, headlights etc. turn off and on at the same time?
If so, maybe a loose BCM connector.

Well, the IP is the only thing that shuts off, and I did check some wires on the drivers side, and from what I can tell, everyhting seems to be connected... The BCM was replaced a few months ago because of an air bag issue....BTW, where is the BCM?

Re: IP Problems
The BCM is located high under the dash like right behind the IP panel. Almost impossible for the average person to replace.

Re: IP Problems
Try sending BBengineer a message. He knows more about the IP clusters than GM does. http://home.comcast.net/~bbengineer/

Well, thats what the dealer said... Had the shitty one torn out, and got the viper 5900 installed.... Its not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

It's not hard to get at what so ever, and is easy to change out your self, the only thing you can't do is Program it, a Dealer has to. Easiest way is driving to the dealer, and pulling out the old one and putting in the new one in the lot and make them push the car in and program it.

Re: IP Problems
Igniton switch, i just had the same issue 2 days ago come into my shop, replace the ignition switch on the dash and it solved all the dash issuse.
on the back of the switch the dashboard gets it main power from the igniton switch ( not the lock cylinder ) once the key is turned to the on position. if you look at a wiring diagram you can track the wiring for the main power on the dash, it runs form the ignition switch

Re: IP Problems
Had one come into my shop the other day with simular issues. The dealership charged them $320 to remove the starter and repair the harnesses. Few days later it did it again. The people were pissed off and came back to me for help and $320 (since I installed the rs system). After messing around for about 10minutes I found there was a short inside the fuse panel. That's the 3rd GM vehicle in 6 months now that I've heard of having shorted out fuse panels. One was a brand spanking new Express Van!
