How do you pull down the back seat?

In the exploration of the 1994 grand am SE i just got, i couldn't figure out how to get the backseat down. there are 3 "hooks," if you will, on the back of the seat if you're looking in from the trunk....these don't move but are very obviously hold the seat to the frame in the trunk. there are no straps that i'm aware of inside the cab. HELP!!!!runaround

not too sure on your year of car but if anything, the black straps in the trunk Should, open the hook that holds the seat, my 99 grand am has them

basically on the left is for the left portion, right = right
pull and the seat doesnt fold down, I have to push it out and away

In 94 the rear folding back seat was only an option on the car and not standard like the new cars. if you had it you would see a noticeable "cut out" in the back seat with a strap to pull it open from the inside. If you are trying to remove the back seat all together. I'm not 100% sure how it's attached. Alot of times there maybe a couple bolts holding it in place with some hooks.

The 94 GA with rear folding seats has the straps inside the cabin area.
They should be on the top outside corner of the back of the seat. Just pull it and it should pop loose and pull down the seat(s).

agreed. It doesnt sound like your car has that option. If you are trying to remove the backseat i'll give you the how-to on that.

I have a 97 ga gt 2 door and im having the same prob. but i came to realize that like my car urs dont fold down, u have to take out the bottom seat, then unbolt the bottom bolts and unhook the top of the seat.......................But im looking for a seat that might fit in my car that does fold dwn, if anyone can help me try to find a way i can get a folding seat in my car e-mail me at girlstoy96@yahoo.com thank u

Welcome to AF girlstoy96.

Any 96-98 rear seat with the bi-fold seats should work in yours. Salvage yards or ebay would be a good place to start looking.
