Caliper Bracket/Sliders

My brakes are squeaking like crazy when I pump them even in park. I had the caliper sliders (the apparent culprit) greased up but that only fixed the problem for about 4 days. Now I figure I'll have to replace the whole caliper bracket but I can't find one anywhere! The only way I'll apparently be able to get one is if I buy the whole calipers for $200 and get $100 back when I send in my old ones. I really don't want to do that but I don't know where I can just get the brackets.

Any idea where I could find them? Oh and the sliders ARE in the bracket right? Thats what the dude at my garage told me anyways. He can't get just the brackets but ideally he said thats what he would need.

He might be pulling your chain!
The calp. brackets are probly a dealer part, or a salvage yard.

You might not realy need new calp. brackets.

When you greased the pins was the hole they slide into cleaned out?

They get rusty inside if not properly maintained. You can pull the pins out and use something thin to reach into the hole and scrape out the crap inside. Then regrease them with new clean brake grease.

One other thing, if the pins are rusty and pitted you can buy a rebuild kit which comes with new slide pins/rubber boots and new clips.

I'm only having the squeaking on one side so I'm just going to replace the caliper myself. Well I'm going to try at least.

Is the caliper slider that goes into the bracket the only thing that could be squeaking when I push in the brakes? I ask because I can either get the whole caliper for about $50 plus $50 core cost or I can just buy the caliper bracket for $55 from the dealership. I'd also wouldn't have to wait for it to be shipped if I just get the bracket.

Wouldn't it also be easier to replace just the bracket? Then I also wouldn't have to disconnect the brake line so I wouldn't have to bleed them out after. Does all of that sound right? I'm basing all of this on a little research and a Haynes repair manual.

I would make sure it is the caliper before I replaced it.

When you pull the caliper off check that the slides are free and turn and they pull in and out freely.

If one, or both are tight then thats most likly causing the squeek. Then I'd just replace the caliper bracket and get the kit with the new slides and clips and it should have new rubber boots for the pins.

Dont forget to grease them up good with the brake grease.
I would also consider changing out the other side so both sides work equally.
Goings great, but stoping is the most important!!
