A product called Clay-bar is suppose to work very well for that. I usually use polishing compound by Turtle wax, it's a bit of work but cheap. For a professional finish, Maguires has a complete line of multi-step bottles. You should be able to get them at any decent autoparts store, but $$.

Re: Hey - small scratches on hood??

Detailing clay is not intended for removing scratches.

I would recommend you use a true polish product like Mothers Scratch Remover. Work lightly in varying directions to smoothen the scratches from every angle possible. It might take a couple of applications, but be patient and work gently. Wax afterwards.

Clay is a great product, but its purpose is removing surface contaminants -- not scratches.
