what now

ok replaced timing chainin 91 3.1 and today put in new plugs. now it wont idle . it will start and run if i hold my foot on gas ,whem i let off it dies ,also when i put in gear it dies, could this still be a timing problem

Sounds like a big vacuum leak, if it seems to run and rev ok with your foot on the gas...make sure you didn't knock a line off...check the one by the throttle body that has several lines ganged together, it's easy to knock off...
