The engine light on my 2001 Jeep Sport comes on for apparently no reason. I don't want to keep taking it to the dealer and have them charge me for trying to find the problem(They said it was a misfire the last time and they replaced a sparc plug). Does anybody know how to reset the engine light? I saw on another thread that disconnecting the battery may work. Thanks-

i dont know where you live, but if there is an auto zone car store by you they will let you use their diagnostic tool (for free) to see why the light came on, and i'm sure they will also know how to reset it. pete

This might not be solution for you but:
Few months ago, I was looking for some stuff for my PDA, and I found this $20 adapter that will plug into most post 95-96 vehicles, and can help you diagnose the engine light on problem, and even reset it. I wish I have saved the URL, but it might be worth the search.
