Question Timing Belt question

I tried different ways to put the timing belt on. Whatever way i try the dam thing is just not close enough to put on the last cog. IVe done the way found in the Haynes manual, 60 degree V6, autozone repair information, and nothings working, no matter what the belt seems just too dam tight.
Is there something special about putting belt on,
any tips for doing this would be greatly appreciated

On all engines i have put them on, they have to go over all the pulleys with a edge first,(grooved pulleys) last one to force it up over is the smooth pulley without a edge on it, the one that the back of the belt runs against.
Or else you just aren't pulling the tensioner all the way, sometimes a tiny bit makes a lot of difference, and even with all this, some belts are still hard to slip over last pulley, making sure its centered in all the other pulleys too of course.

Re: Timing Belt question

This sounds like your tensioner is not set properly. Check the tensioner and go from there. Also, make sure you get the belt on properly and its not off, or you'll be back doing it all over again.

Re: Timing Belt question

i went to the dealer the other day and the mechanic said you had to remove one of the camshaft sprockets, put the belt on the sprocket, then put the bolt in and tighten it.
? Doesnt the camshaft sprocket need some kind of special tool to remove it.
Im not sure if i want 2 do it this way but if it can be done without a tool id do it.
Thnks for anyones response
