Has anyone done this? and how did it go? A friend of mine was telling me that you can swap a first gen Eclipse engine into it, but with the slight research i've done i was unable to find any evidence of this. :banghead: I have a 98 Camry and a 2001 Hyundai Accent and was thinking about an engine swap in either. Trying to figure out which is a better "investment", if you can call a car an investment haha.

actually, you can take the turbo manifold and turbo right off of the 3sgte and put it on a camry 5sfe with some fancy exhaust work. It's actually a pretty cheap job if you use used parts.

does tht mean it would be more powerful than the 3sgte engine?? considerin the 3sgte is only 2L and the 5sfe is 2.2L...and would it be way cheaper than doin an engine swap?

No the 5sfe would not be more powerful unless you reworked or replaced all the insides ($$$$$). It wasn't designed to be a performance motor. It would be cheaper to turbo the 5sfe, but don't expect a ridiculous increase without breaking something. If you got more than 200 dependable flywheel hp (which is still high) without insides reworked, i'd be impressed. And if you have an automatic, i'd recommend a new trans (read: new car).
