engine almost stalls when starting up cold !

hey guys, i have a 94 camry and i went on vacation a month ago and left her for a week. well, when i got back , i started it and i had to give her a lil gas to get her to idle... now, ive noticed that every morning i leave for work(about 60degrees out) , or i havent started it in 10hrs or so.. itll start right up, BUT the RPMs go from 1500 the millisencond it starts to really low idle, then once i go 100yards in the car, its back to normal. throughout the day its perfect, just starting up when shes cold is the only time it does it. it just goes away when warm.

now, does that sound like a fuel filter problem, or dirty injectors problem? where is the fuel filter? any ways to remedy it? thanks!!!

It sounds like you need to clean the the idle air control valve before doing anything else. I would clean the entire throttle body, paying particular attention to spraying the throttle body cleaner (or O2 safe carb cleaner) liberally down in to the small square or diamond shaped hole in the base of the throttle body. That is the port leading to the idle air control valve. While that is soaking, go on to clean the rest of the throttle body. Be sure to clean the both the front and rear side of the throttle valve inside the throttle body. The engine will be a bit difficult to start after everything is back together but it will eventually start. Then take it for a 10-15 minute ride to clear all of the throttle body cleaner out of the intake. Then let us know how the car starts on the next cold start.

Here is a link for cleaning the throttle body. It's for a V6 but the 4 cylinder is almost identical. Remember, you must spray the cleaner liberally down in to the square or diamond shaped port leading to the idle air control valve:

No, the port leading to the idle air control valve is in front of the butterfly valve. You will see it as soon as you remove the big tube leading to the throttle body. It's just a good idea to clean the backside of the butterfly valve, to do a complete job of cleaning the entire throttle body. That's why I mentioned it.
