Re: radar detector?
valentine v1 is the only radar detector as far as I'm concerned. well worth the entry cost but your best bet for avoiding a ticket is still to pay attention and not speed excessively

Re: radar detector?
yeah i have the passport by escort..the new one that droped in july is off the chain!! it shos your speed, gives u info on new detections, and remembers all the false alarm spots u drive in..it has built in gps so it remembers where the false alarms are at...i havent got it yet but i plan on it!

Re: radar detector?
it will pick up the difference in signal and go off..u should look it up and read about the new passport, its pretty bad ass for a radar detector. the only ticket i ever got with mines was when i was sleepy as hell and it was going off and my music was up high...(2 10's) so i didnt hear it warning me..and by time i noticed it was going off, i noticed the state trooper sitting on the side of the road lol. so it was my fault. there is no 100% way to beat a ticket except for not speeding! but i will say it payed for itself 30 times fold! saved my ass from more tickets than one could think

Re: radar detector?
I think philly rs is talking about the Passport 9500i. Great unit I used for the first time on a trip from Chicago to Bristol, TN and back in August. It was remarkably quite but when it went off, that was a trooper waiting on the side or coming towards me. Can higly recommend this unit if you can stomarch the cost of $450,-
good luck

Re: radar detector?
the cobra two..wal mart..its pretty damn good for that damn price!!! it works almost as good as the passport..one of the guys in my club uses that because he refuses to pay 350 for a passport...and yes the new one is 450 lol.... i dont have it yet but we are autorized dealers for this unit. i will be getting one by xmas... they also make a unit and its alot..i think 800?? but it doesnt go in the window, its a bunch of sinsors built into the bumpers...front and rear...its sweet!!! the screen it about the size of a xm radio screen..its awsome...one of the docs i work with that i hang with has one in his 2007 porsh.... he said the damn thing came with it!! but we sell that one as well

Re: radar detector?
Professional advice. Don't waste your money. There is more than one way to determine your speed.

Re: radar detector?
I wouldn't count on a radar detector to keep you from getting a ticket but they are nice once in a while and could save a couple of tickets but I like mine just to know when I have been clocked.

Re: radar detector?
i got a whistler from walmart a few years back for about $50 and it has never let me down. did anyone see the newer mythbusters? they determined u can beat the photo radar if you go faster than 240mph . 6 i got a question for ya, do those portable trailers that show your speed have cameras in them? my detector went off about 1/2 mile before i got to one.
