Will a B series 2300 work with my 2.3l ranger

i've got a 1996 ranger with a 2.3l 140 cub. engine 160,000 on it, . Ford put a mazda tranny in it. I wanna have a spare engine because I love my truck but don't want a ford rebuild. ford no longer manufactures the 1996 2.3. I want to know if a B series 2300 mazda pickup engines will work with my ranger. go figure mazda still makes a 96

I believe from 1994 on that the Mazda B trucks are the same as Ford Rangers except for sheet metal differences. Mazda trucks 1993 and earlier were made in Japan.
